From Uncertain Futures to New Beginnings: Inside Carole’s House of Hope

When a young mom ages out of foster care or hits homelessness, the world suddenly feels like one long “what now?” Carole’s House of Hope meets that moment with a home, a plan, and people who won’t let her fail. Their transitional program gives young women — and their children — the steady place to heal, learn, and build toward independent living.

Carole’s House of Hope’s mission is simple and urgent: provide safe, stable transitional housing for young women and mothers who have aged out of foster care or are experiencing homelessness. Their residential model pairs a home-like environment with life-skills programming so residents move from survival to self-sufficiency.

The organization grew out of grassroots care: Carole and David — who both spent decades working with at-risk youth and families — launched the nonprofit in 2011 and opened their doors a few years later to fill a gap they kept seeing in the community. Their local roots and long experience with human services shape how CHH supports residents with real-world skills and wraparound care.

This isn’t a temporary shelter—it’s a bridge to independence. CHH operates as a residential program that allows women to stabilize, complete job or education steps, and transition to permanent housing with dignity. For many residents, this is the first time they’ve had dependable access to consistent support after trauma or foster care.

Concrete ways your gift makes a difference:

  • A $500 donation can cover a one-month scholarship for program fees (helping with deposits, essentials, or short-term support).

  • Smaller gifts (a $100 grocery/diaper card or a welcome-basket of linens and toiletries) are also transformational at move-in. The team publishes specific “urgent needs” items so you're giving directly matches immediate gaps.

A real moment of impact (paraphrased from a resident’s story): participants have credited CHH with helping address past trauma, connecting them to classes and services to qualify for apartments, and supporting critical health and recovery needs while stabilizing their lives. That combination of compassion + structure is what turns fragile hope into sustained momentum.

How to help right now

  1. Donate a scholarship — fund a month of program fees to keep a mom and child housed and on track.

  2. Sponsor a Welcome Basket — new bedding, toiletries, baby items, and a grocery card make move-in dignified and stress-free.

  3. Donate items from their wish list (full/queen bedding, mattress protectors, laundry detergent, diapers, etc.).

  4. Share their story with your network — visibility brings volunteers and support beyond dollars.
